On the other hand, Cooper’s hawks often bring the action much closer. We've had one perch on the fence just five feet from our driveway as we arrived home—a thrilling experience for any bird lover.

Wild turkeys, with their quirky personalities and surprisingly agile flight, are always entertaining to spot. Yes, turkeys do fly—and watching their slightly awkward takeoffs is sure to bring a smile. Our cat, Clyde, has no qualms about mingling with the turkeys, and surprisingly, they don’t seem to mind his presence at all.

Occasionally, we’re fortunate enough to glimpse majestic bald eagles or golden eagles. While they’re not as frequent here in Bedford, New Hampshire, they’re a common sight when we’re in Naples, Maine, where these stunning birds of prey soar gracefully over the lakes and forests.
